The longest day of the year, around 21 June, marks a special turning point in nature. The sun is at its highest point, the light is at its strongest, and the earth is bathed in abundant energy. In many spiritual traditions, this period is celebrated as the peak of light: a moment of joy, gratitude and inner growth.

In this blog Midsummer Magic We’ll take you on a journey to celebrate the power of the sun, creativity and opening your heart.

The energy of the longest day

The summer solstice is a pivotal moment. It marks not only the transition into summer, but also an inner invitation: What do you want to nurture in your life?

The light is at its brightest, and symbolically, so is your own inner light. This is the perfect time to set intentions, let go of what no longer serves you, and connect with joy, creativity and a zest for life.

Rituals for 21 June

The morning sun ritual

Start the day early and greet the rising sun. Set your alarm and go outside, into nature. Pause for a moment, take a deep breath and feel the light filling your body. Gently voice an intention such as:
“I open myself up to growth, light and abundance.”

A solstice altar

Create a small altar with beautiful summer symbols such as yellow candles, yellow flowers and lovely crystals. Don’t forget to place a glass of water on your altar to charge it with the powerful energy of the solstice. Leave this altar in place all day as your energetic focal point. Write a lovely note setting out your intention for the coming summer: what do you want to let go of, what no longer serves you – old patterns, doubts and fears.

An evening fire ceremony

In the evening, it’s time to reinforce your intention to let go. You’re now going to burn the note on which you’ve written your intention. You’ll truly let it go by letting the wind carry it away. Burn the note safely as part of a fire or candle ritual and visualise it transforming into light and space.
