Essential oils are wonderful to work with. They can provide natural relief for all sorts of problems and, for example, support the immune system. We get a lot of questions about using essential oils with children. As they are natural products, you might think they\u2019re perfectly safe to use on little ones. Unfortunately, this isn\u2019t true of every oil! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why we\u2019ve created special blends and products that can be used with confidence on children. On our website, we\u2019ve categorised the products by age group to make them clear and easy to find. Is your child a teenager already? Why can\u2019t you use just any oil on children?<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Essential oils are highly concentrated, so you only need to use a small amount. They are composed of various chemical compounds that by nature<\/strong> be present. Children, and especially babies, are less able to process essential oils in the body. That is why we always say, when using essential oils with children: \u2018Less is more!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not every essential oil is therefore suitable for use with children. Bear this in mind when you start blending single oils yourself. Some essential oils are too potent for little ones. A wonderful and clear reference book on this subject is *The Complete Book of Essential Oils for Mama & Baby* by Christina Anthis. We have also drawn inspiration and information from this book ourselves when creating all our children\u2019s products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please also bear in mind the contraindications when using essential oils. Take care if your child suffers from epilepsy, asthma or skin conditions. It is advisable to start with very small amounts and to monitor any reactions closely. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can you use these products safely with children?<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our website lists all baby and children's products<\/a> Conveniently categorised by age. This means you can be sure whether or not a product is suitable for your child. It also clearly states how and in what quantity you can use the oil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We advise against ingesting essential oils or applying them undiluted to the skin. Fortunately, this isn\u2019t necessary at all! We make use of the oil\u2019s energetic properties. This means you can simply harness the power contained in the bottle! It\u2019s the safest way to harness the power of nature! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lovely way to help your little one relax is, of course, in the bath. We have a special bath oil that can be used from day one, the Indoor swimming pool<\/a>. After 6 months, you can start using a few more essential oils for your little one. It allows you to make a loving connection, and it\u2019s a lovely moment for you and your baby to really get used to each other and get to know one another. Don\u2019t use any essential oils just yet. Give your baby a lovely massage with \u2018Konijntje Zacht\u2019, a naturally pure sesame oil. From 6 months onwards, your baby can enjoy a massage with a special massage oil from the baby range. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When your little one is still very young, you shouldn\u2019t use an Aura Spray. These contain alcohol, which isn\u2019t suitable for a baby. Our special Room Sprays can be used from birth. They\u2019re made from hydrolates, a by-product of the distillation process. When an oil is extracted, some scent always remains in the water \u2013 the hydrolate. Thanks to their mild scent, you can use these sprays in the room when your baby isn\u2019t there. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s nothing more annoying than a baby\u2019s sore nappy! Many balms contain zinc oxide, which we personally aren\u2019t really fans of. Our Koetje Boeh Nappy Balm is a natural product, so you can use it right from day one. For children aged 2 and over, there\u2019s the special Zeehondje Cough Balm to help get rid of that annoying \u2018seal\u2019 cough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 6 months onwards, your baby is already a bit better at processing the compounds found in essential oils. This means you can start using scents a bit more. A special massage oil for this age group is Cough & Cold, which helps soothe the airways. This lovely scent is also available as a bath oil<\/a> designed to let your little one enjoy a lovely steam before going to bed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Single oils<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The baby range features a selection of essential oils in lovely themes, specially designed for children aged 6 months and over. You can use the essential oil in a diffuser, on a scent stone, by adding a few drops to a soft toy, or by adding it to a bath. On our website, you\u2019ll find the correct dosage for each age group and instructions for use alongside the various products, and there\u2019s a handy chart in our handy information leaflet for babies and children<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roll on<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the age of 2, your little one will want to do everything \u2018by themselves\u2019! They\u2019re already so big, so they\u2019re perfectly capable of applying the oil themselves\u2026 We\u2019ve got these safe roll-on bottles especially for these little stars. Children can roll them onto their own wrists to benefit from the supportive effects. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The rollers are already mixed with jojoba oil and can therefore be applied directly to the skin. The special children\u2019s range looks appealing thanks to the animal pictures featured on the packaging. Children often have a keen sense of exactly what they need. It\u2019s lovely to send them along to the playgroup and nursery. That way, the children learn that they can use the rollers whenever they feel the need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also special rollers designed for use on your baby from 6 months onwards. This roller is handy to take with you when you\u2019re out and about. To use the roller, first roll it between your own hands, rub it in briefly, and then you can rub the oil onto your baby\u2019s feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Room spray<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the age of 2, you can start using the (alcohol-based) sprays from the children\u2019s range as a room spray. They can therefore be used safely in the room when your child is there. Please note: Less is more! Spray a few times around the room to ensure the scent is evenly distributed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Aura Spray<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the age of 4, you can also use all the room sprays from the children\u2019s range as aura sprays. Ask your child to close their eyes for a moment and hold their breath. Spray once above their head and on both sides around them. This allows the alcohol to evaporate and the mist to settle. There are also lovely Cleansing, Grounding and Protective sprays that are only suitable for use from the age of 4.
