The name \u2018Heliotrope\u2019 comes from Ancient Greek and literally means \u2018sun-turning\u2019 (helios = sun, trepein = to turn), which refers to the spiritual belief that this stone could influence the sun or possess its power. The name \u2018bloodstone\u2019 refers to the distinctive red inclusions on the stone\u2019s dark green surface.<\/p>\n

Heliotrope is found all over the world, including in India, Brazil, Australia, China and the United States. The Indian variety is often the best known due to its deep colours and beautiful patterns.<\/p>\n
