The weather is changing: it’s getting colder and darker… Autumn is on its way. I always find the transition from those lovely, balmy summer evenings to wind, rain and cold quite a shock! I’m a real ‘warm-weather person’, so when I see the cold coming again, I notice it really does get me down a bit 😉. But autumn has its nice sides too; I just always need a bit of time to get used to it. When I hear the wind howling around the house whilst I’m sitting inside, cosy on the sofa with a blanket and a cup of tea, I can secretly enjoy it quite a bit after all.
At De Groene Linde, we have lots of products you can use to add a bit of colour to the dark days. Think of stones, incense, tea lights and, of course, the lovely scents for your diffuser or aroma burner. I’d love to share my ultimate autumn tips, so that you too might get through the dark days with a smile on your face and can embrace autumn in total comfort ;).
Now that’s a lovely scent! It’s as if you’re sitting in a fresh forest by a campfire. The cinnamon gives the scent a warm glow. It evokes a sense of security, but also of freedom. It’s as if, whilst on a brisk walk through the woods, you’re experiencing the safety of the earth and the shelter of the trees.

Metal symbolises letting go, reaping and withdrawing, just as nature prepares for the tranquillity of winter in autumn. It is the perfect oil to use during this period. You, too, can let go of emotional baggage that no longer serves you.

A natural air freshener without any nasties! I love it. And as we’re spending a bit more time indoors again, it also makes for a lovely eye-catcher to display. The black spruce in this blend gives the whole thing a slightly autumnal and earthy scent.
Curl up on the sofa and relax after a busy day. Relax & Cozy is so sweet and deep that you can lose yourself in peace, relaxation and cosiness. I find this such a lovely, warm scent. Especially on a day when it’s pouring with rain, this is such a lovely scent to light in the evening!
Especially in autumn and winter, I like to take a moment every now and then to reflect on what I’m grateful for. Simply because the weather doesn’t always play along, and I can easily slip into ‘complaining mode’. Just reminding yourself that there’s plenty to be grateful for lifts your spirits again. This lovely scent, which really does contain a little bit of sunshine thanks to the bergamot– and mandarin oil, gives you a refreshing boost.
My favourite from the seasonal range: Hello Winter! This scent really warms you right through. With the oils cinnamon, orange, clove and cardamom It’s such a lovely wintery scent! I’ve had this ready at home since September 😉.
As soon as it starts to feel colder outside and the wind blows through my hair, I often find myself walking with my shoulders hunched. This causes me a lot of discomfort in my neck and shoulders. This lovely, handmade incense helps to relax this area.

I think this combination is absolutely fantastic! The warm, sweet scent of Himalayan cedar and the fresh note of spearmint, combined in a bath oil, is truly wonderful! These two oils help to relax your muscles and give you more breathing space, both literally and figuratively. It’s a soothing scent for the lungs and calms the mind. Do you have a sauna? Then don’t forget to use this scent! You’ll be cosy not just on the sofa, but in the sauna too 😉!
And last but not least… The ‘Skip the Dip’! A handy tip from my colleague Mirjana: put a few drops of oil on your vacuum cleaner’s filter. When you go vacuuming, the whole house will smell lovely and nobody will suffer from a dip anymore 😉. My tip: make sure you always have the roller in your bag for those little dips whilst you’re out and about.
I hope these tips will help you spend the coming months cosily on the sofa and that you’ll be able to embrace autumn and winter. Give yourself the space to reconnect with yourself and enjoy the peace and quiet 😊.
