Selenite is a beautiful, ethereal stone that you can recognise immediately by its soft, pearlescent sheen. The name is derived from the Greek word selēnē, which means ‘moon’, a reference to its silvery-white lustre, reminiscent of moonlight. It is no coincidence that selenite is also known as the ‘Moonstone of Light’ (although it is a different stone to the official moonstone).
This stone is mainly found in countries such as Morocco, Mexico, Australia and the US, where it is mined as transparent gypsum crystals.
General operation
Selenite is a particularly beautiful stone if you’re interested in spirituality. It protects you and brings calm and peace to your inner self, whilst also radiating these qualities to those around you. It cleanses spaces, other stones and even auras with its high, pure vibration.
