Marianne is the creative force behind the founding of De Groene Linde. She started the business in 2007 from a small attic room, having completed various courses and worked for the local council. When she discovered essential oils, it became clear to her: ‘I have to do something with this!’
Marianne first came into contact with essential oils when she was in her twenties. She was training to become a naturopathic therapist, and the course covered herbs and oils. She was already absolutely thrilled by them back then. The teacher herself ran courses on working with essential oils, and Marianne attended several of them. At that stage, the focus was solely on domestic uses and physical applications.
From then on, Marianne began working with the oil herself. It became part of her life. Many years later, Marianne began training as a polyenergetic therapist, and it was there that she came into contact with energy work and the energetic properties of essential oils. When she realised how this worked, it was a real ‘eureka’ moment! From then on, she began working with essential oils on an energetic level.
However, many years before this, Marianne had completed a course in integration therapy, an energy-based treatment in which your soul’s purpose is embedded within your body. Whilst undergoing the treatment, she had a clear realisation that she needed to do something with essential oils.
Marianne worked for the local council, where she began giving short workshops and talks to colleagues on the use of essential oils. Here, her colleagues learnt about using essential oils in everyday life – so really, still at a physical level. These were the first steps in the right direction. After working at Purmerend Council for 12 years, Ton and Marianne moved house and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Tessa. Sadly, Tessa passed away four months after her birth, but she did have a very positive influence on Marianne’s early forays into creating energetic blends.
Starting out in a small attic room, where Marianne sold a few single-note essential oils and made some blends for family and friends, De Groene Linde has now grown into a proper business offering a huge range of different products. And this is no longer just down to Marianne; her husband Ton has been the driving force behind it all 😉. He came up with the idea for an online shop and has designed it beautifully. De Groene Linde became a reality! Whilst Marianne was still fully convinced of her future as a therapist, Ton set up De Groene Linde in the evenings.
Making her own energy blend actually came about quite naturally. The first blend Marianne made was the Dolphins Oil, a wonderful scent frequency to comfort people during bereavement. As Tessa went through her grieving process, she crossed paths with many people who were also going through their own grief. On the anniversary of Tessa’s death, Marianne set about blending the oils, and this wonderful scent frequency was ‘born’. And why dolphins? Because Tessa very often appeared in Marianne’s dreams as a little dolphin…
This gave rise to other sources of inspiration, which Marianne then translated into scent frequencies. The first range is the Healing Compositions wherever the Dolphins have a spot, that is.
After the little attic room, it was time to think on a slightly larger scale. After trying out various locations in Heerhugowaard, Broek op Langedijk and Limmen, we have now settled in a beautiful building in Heiloo. There you’ll find a stunning showroom where you can try out all the scent frequencies, and we now also stock some beautiful crystals.
Marianne is far from finished, and these days she has gathered a whole team around her, so that De Groene Linde has become a proper business. Ton has also been fully involved with De Groene Linde since 2016, so they’re steering the ship together 😉. Would you like to read more about the team? After creating many fragrance ranges, there comes a time when a range needs updating, or perhaps its energy no longer feels right for the times. That’s why Marianne is still delightfully busy creating and tuning into the products. Energy changes, and sometimes that calls for an adjustment or a new product!
