Whether you’re meditating, practising yoga or simply want to take a moment to breathe mindfully after a busy day: choose a scent that feels right for you. Our blends are crafted in small batches in Heiloo, using pure ingredients and at fair prices.
Why scent goes so well with meditation
Scent has a significant influence on how a moment feels. That is why many people choose aromatherapy during meditation: not to force anything, but to create a calm atmosphere in which it is easier to slow down. A subtle scent can help you make the transition from being busy to finding a moment of stillness.
If you use the same meditation oil regularly, that scent can also become a familiar anchor. As soon as you smell it, you automatically associate it with calm, breathing and mindfulness. That is precisely what makes essential oils for meditation so enjoyable for many people.
Which fragrances are often chosen?
Which essential oil best supports meditation depends on your preference and the time of day. These are soothing scents and types of scent that are often chosen:
What are you looking for? | Fragrances that often go well with this |
|---|
Peace and relaxation | lavender, ylang-ylang and gentle floral blends |
Grounding and stillness | incense, sandalwood and vetiver |
Clear focus | rosemary, bergamot and Scots pine |
Warmth and a gentle evening routine | woody or slightly herbal meditation blends |
Do you find strong scents a bit too much? If so, start with a gentle, rounded scent. Meditation is usually most enjoyable with a scent that’s present but not overpowering. Do you feel the need for more grounding during or after your meditation? Then have a look at Grounding & stability.
How to use meditation oil in your ritual
In a diffuser
One of our Electric diffusers It’s ideal if you want to fill the whole room with the scent whilst you meditate. Add a few drops following the instructions for your diffuser and switch it on 10 to 15 minutes before you begin. This will help you ease gently into the scent. Not sure about the right dosage? How many drops should I put in the diffuser?
On a fragrance stone, in an inhaler or as a spray
Do you prefer a more subtle approach, or do you meditate in different places? In that case, a scented stone, an inhaler or a natural aura spray are excellent choices. This allows you to use the scent closer to yourself, without needing to fill the whole room. Do you want to energetically cleanse your meditation space? Then Protection & purification goes nicely with that.
On the skin
If you like to use your oil as part of a personal ritual, opt to apply it diluted to the skin, for example on your wrists or neck. This way, you really incorporate the scent into your breathing and focus. Never apply essential oil undiluted to the skin. At De Groene Linde, various fragrance blends are also available in roll-on formats.
How do you choose the fragrance that suits you?
The best meditation oil isn’t necessarily the most popular one, but the scent that suits your needs. Ask yourself: do I mainly want to relax, ground myself, or perhaps clear my head a little? For an evening meditation, many people choose something warm and gentle. For a morning ritual, a fresh or herbal scent often works better.
Are you unsure whether to choose a single oil or a blend? A single oil is straightforward and pure. A blend often feels a bit more rounded and layered. Especially if you’re still searching for your favourite scent profile, a carefully crafted blend can be a lovely choice.
Safe and responsible use
Essential oils are highly concentrated. You should therefore always use them with care: do not ingest them, avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes, and read the product information carefully. If you wish to apply the oil to the skin, always dilute it with a carrier oil. Extra caution is important during pregnancy, if you have sensitive skin, or when using the oil around children. If you’re unsure, we’d be happy to advise you.
