Rhyolite is a volcanic rock formed during explosive volcanic eruptions. It sounds intense, and that is precisely what makes this stone so powerful. It embodies the energy of fire, transformation and tranquillity. You’ll find rhyolite in places where there was once a great deal of volcanic activity, such as in Australia, Mexico, the US and Iceland.
The name comes from the Greek word rhyx, which means ‘to flow’, a reference to the way in which the molten rock once flowed out. And that meaning fits in nicely with the stone’s effect: allowing emotions to flow, letting go of patterns and no longer holding yourself back.
General operation
Do you feel as though your head is spinning? That your thoughts are racing in all directions or your emotions are getting the better of you? Rhyolite brings clarity and calm to your mind. The stone has a clarifying effect, helping you to make sense of what’s going on and enabling you to concentrate better. This makes it ideal for use during meditation or moments of reflection.
At the same time, rhyolite keeps you firmly grounded. Spiritual journeys, deep meditations or visualisations come more easily with this stone, without you “drifting off”. You remain firmly anchored in the here and now, which means you can truly integrate your insights into your daily life.
One of the most wonderful qualities of rhyolite is that it helps you to bring your emotions into balance. Not by suppressing them, but by facing them honestly and dealing with them more gently. This makes you feel more emotionally stable, more at ease with yourself and less likely to be thrown off balance.
And it doesn’t stop there. Rhyolite helps you recognise your own worth. It makes you feel: You’re fine just as you are. Your self-respect grows, your self-love becomes stronger and you begin to truly trust yourself. You stand more firmly, radiate more confidence and will notice that you deal with difficult situations differently, drawing more on your inner calm and strength.
Care
Rhyolite can be cleansed and recharged in all sorts of ways. Read here more information on cleaning and charging.
