Chakra: third eye and crown chakra
Star sign: Pisces and Libra
Apophyllite belongs to the zeolite group. Because they are formed in the same way – through hydrothermal processes in which hot water flows through rock – and are often found together, it is still commonly referred to in the gemstone world simply as “a type of zeolite”.
The name apophyllite comes from the Greek word apophylliso, which means “to flake off” or “to shed in flakes”. This refers to the mineral’s property of flaking off in thin layers when heated, but also to its spiritual message: letting go of what no longer serves you.
Apophyllite is often found in India, particularly in the Pune region of Maharashtra, where magnificent crystals grow in cavities within basalt rock. Beautiful specimens are also found in Iceland, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Germany. Indian apophyllites, often clear or pale green in colour, are regarded as having a particularly pure vibration and as bearers of a quiet, enlightened wisdom.
Apophyllite is a stone that brings clarity, as if the fog were lifting from your mind. Its energy feels fresh, open and pure. It helps you to find a moment of stillness within, so that you can once again listen to what your heart already knew. This apophyllite point opens the connection between heaven and earth, between thinking and feeling, between you and something greater. It helps you let go of old beliefs, fears and tensions.
Energetically, the apophyllite point works on the third eye and the crown chakra. It helps you to be more intuitive, to connect more deeply with your feelings and with higher energies. Many people use it during meditation or to connect with their spirit guides or angels. When you hold it, it often feels cool and tingly, as if it’s allowing light to flow through you.
Apophyllite reminds you that clarity is not something you need to seek, but something that already lives within you. It invites you to trust, to breathe and to simply be. Because, just like the crystal itself, you are made of light.
It is best not to clean apophyllite with water. Read here Further information on cleaning and charging.
