Description
Chakra: solar plexus
Star sign: Capricorn
The name calcite is derived from the Latin word calx, which means “chalk”. Calcite is, in fact, a form of calcium carbonate and is one of the most common minerals on Earth. Yellow calcite is a colour variant that owes its warm, sunny hue to traces of iron or other natural inclusions.
These crystals are found all over the world, but gem-quality yellow calcite comes mainly from Mexico, Brazil, the US and Pakistan. Mexican yellow calcite is particularly prized for its clarity and warm, honey-coloured glow.
