Bright yellow calcite tumbled stone

Chakra: solar plexus
Star sign: Capricorn

The name “calcite” is derived from the Latin word ‘calx’, which means ‘lime’. Calcite is, in fact, calcium carbonate and is one of the most common minerals on Earth. Yellow calcite is a colour variant that owes its warm, sunny hue to traces of iron or other natural inclusions.

These crystals are found all over the world, but gem-quality yellow calcite comes mainly from Mexico, Brazil, the US and Pakistan. Mexican yellow calcite is particularly prized for its clarity and warm, honey-coloured glow.
