For many people, the festive season is a cosy time, but also a hectic one. You’ve got those days off, but in reality you’re just really busy. Some people are already planning their Christmas celebrations as early as September.
It’s a bit easier for me this year: I’m in Spain with my family and the four of us are having a lovely time together. Probably with a relaxed winter barbecue 😉
Buying presents, doing the shopping for Christmas dinner, schoolchildren who have to bring all sorts of things to school in December for a Christmas craft project, breakfast or dinner… You name it! It’s often hard enough to start the run-up to Christmas feeling relaxed, let alone during the Christmas holidays themselves.
As I’m spending the festive season in such a relaxed way this year, I’d like to share a few tips with you to help you get through December a bit more calmly too.
That’s actually my first tip! Make a plan, set your boundaries and do things that give you energy, such as a massage or yoga. Once you’ve put your plan down on paper, you might just find your mind becomes calmer.
Sometimes it’s also good to no to say. A no against someone else is a yes for yourself. Let those around you know what you need, so that people know where they stand. If you organise the family Christmas dinner every year and end up spending the whole day in the kitchen, you could suggest sharing the cooking so that everyone brings something. Or perhaps it could be held at someone else’s house this year.
