True lavender is perhaps the most beloved essential oil in the world, and with good reason. This oil is extracted from the flowering tops of Lavendula angustifolia, a species of lavender native to the Mediterranean region. The oil is known for its gentle, floral scent and its versatile effects on both body and mind.
The plant prefers to grow on sunny, dry mountain slopes at altitudes of between 600 and 1,600 metres, where it finds the ideal conditions to fully develop its calming properties. Depending on its origin (such as France, Bulgaria or the Alps), the scent and effects may vary slightly, but the essence always remains gentle, warm and comforting.
The oil is extracted from the flowers by steam distillation and contains mainly linalool and linalyl acetate, two compounds responsible for the relaxing and soothing effects for which lavender is so well known.
The driving force behind the Lavender type is “I’m not good enough”, which often has its roots in childhood. This is because these people often to be highly sensitive. This is because parents have high expectations of their children, which those children have been unable to meet. People like this carry this feeling of not being good enough with them throughout their lives and feel, time and again, that they are falling short in the eyes of those around them. They feel guilty and believe they are not a good partner or a good parent. This is often accompanied by a rejection of their own body and a sense of limitation in their living environment and sexuality. These people have a choice and will first need to let go of the past in order to rediscover their true selves.
Lavender oil is an essential oil that restores harmony and creates a pleasant, fresh and purifying atmosphere, just like Lemon oil. Lavender oil has a positive effect on the nerves and the nervous system, dispels negative thoughts and is best known for its beneficial effect on sleep. You can also diffuse lavender oil if you suffer from hay fever.
Pure lavender oil balances the higher and lower chakras. Lavender oil has an affinity with the third chakra and helps to soothe intense emotions. Lavender is also associated with the seventh chakra; here, the oil makes it easier to enter a trance and helps you to bring your higher self down so that precious knowledge becomes available to you. It is a good oil to use during meditation and visualisation. The oil has an energetically balancing effect.
Affirmation: "I am healthy, whole and complete. I am calm, relaxed and I breathe deeply, knowing that everything is fine."
Within the aromatherapy Lavender oil is regarded as the most versatile oil, as it has many properties. No household should be without a bottle of lavender oil!
For example, lavender oil helps you sleep well. Lavender essential oil also helps to maintain healthy skin, as it is beneficial for the skin’s connective tissue. To promote sleep, make a base oil, for example 100 ml Grape seed oil, containing 50 drops of pure lavender oil. Rub it into your skin and then hop into a warm shower. Sleep well!
Lavender oil has a synergistic effect, which means that if you add a drop of lavender essential oil to a mixture of various essential oils, its effect is enhanced.

I use this oil very regularly during massages for dogs. It has a wonderfully relaxing and calming effect on them. The dogs themselves often choose this oil too. I also use this oil on myself after a busy day, to help me unwind.
A wonderful oil that I find very useful during my acupuncture treatments for conditions such as muscle ache, a sore throat and a fever. It also calms the mind and boosts the immune system.
Soothing! The quality is really good! This won’t be the last time I order this fragrance.
My favourite oil! I had an operation this week. This oil, combined with geranium and tea tree (and a carrier oil), works as a perfect wound healer. No more itching or tightness around the wound.
Lovely! Just the right oil for unwinding 🥰
Lavender is an essential oil that has many uses
I’ve started using aromatherapy at home, and my children fall asleep more quickly and sleep better with lavender oil in their diffuser. It’s lovely! I’d recommend it to everyone. Delivery is always quick and very reliable!
Incredibly soothing. It smells lovely!
A lovely oil.
I recently started a holistic massage course and set out to find a lovely, pure lavender oil to use in my diffuser and also to make my own massage oil. I’ve been getting lots of compliments lately on the lovely, relaxing scent of the lavender I’m using! I’m really happy with it! :)
My daughter is a poor sleeper. She finds it very difficult to wind down in the evening. A drop of lavender on her duvet helps her relax more quickly. And it smells lovely, too.
A lovely, soothing scent to help you relax completely
This lovely, gentle oil ensures a wonderful night’s sleep for our daughter and for us. We use it both in the diffuser and in a roller!! It’s also great for minor burns and scratches, and for bites from animals.
It smells lovely and has a very soothing effect
It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to use oils again. A friend pointed me towards this site. I had lots of questions, which were answered very helpfully via the chat button. The oils I bought are good value for money, and as I’m a huge fan of lavender, that was the first one I used again. Great website, helpful service, fast delivery and superb oils. I’m really pleased with them.
A really lovely, soothing scent. It’s not too overpowering, which makes it perfect for the living room or bedroom.
It smells lovely! I’m going to use this oil on the horses soon; I’m really looking forward to seeing the results, but the scent alone says a looooot!!
I’m a big fan of lavender. It’s a lovely, pure oil. I use it in the diffuser in our bedroom and often in our daughters’ rooms too. It helps them sleep soundly.
So far, I think this is the best oil I’ve ever used. It calms me down and I worry far less (about problems). Sometimes I just take a sniff from the bottle, and other times I put it in my aroma diffuser. It’s a brilliant product!
I use this oil in the children’s bedrooms. It helps them sleep soundly. I used to use oil from an MLM company. De Groene Linde shows that there’s no need to pay much more for exactly the same oil. I/We’ve been won over!
Lavender smells lovely and I put it in the diffuser when I go to sleep And I’m very happy with the oil
We add the lavender oil to the liquid wax in the tea lights, and it makes the waiting room at our health centre smell lovely. It’s not a huge amount, but it does say something about the potency of the lavender scent – and therefore about the quality of the lavender oil. Lavender is a real all-rounder. It has the perfect qualities for use in a health centre. And besides, as the manager, I also enjoy it every day whilst I’m at work. Simply because it’s lovely.
I was already using a very high-quality lavender oil from an MLM company. So I’ve now ordered the 30 ml bottle. I still had some "old" oil left, so I put a drop of each side by side on my pillow. And I’m sold. So I’ll be ordering this regularly. I have fitted a slower-dripping dropper to it, though.
It smells lovely; I’ve already used it in the diffuser in the bedroom, and now the wardrobe smells lovely of lavender too. I put a few drops on a wooden bead and placed it in the wardrobe.
Such a pure scent! It’s definitely a favourite in the yoga studio and in the living room. It’s also lovely before bed and when you just want a little pick-me-up. Brilliant!
This oil has completely lived up to my expectations. It smells lovely. I also use this scent regularly in my practice for relaxing massages.
A lovely oil that you can use for a variety of purposes. It’s also nice that it comes with a card explaining how to use it!
A lovely lavender oil. I’ve used it in my diffuser and in the bath – it’s very relaxing! Just be careful the first time you use it – lots of drops come out straight away, so don’t hold the bottle upside down! I also ordered peppermint and sage to go with it, and I’m really pleased with those too.
Lovely oil! I’m absolutely delighted with it. It smells lovely and has a relaxing effect. I put a few drops of it undiluted in my diffuser. ❤️
A lovely oil that can be used for a whole range of "problems"! I always have this lavender oil to hand somewhere – in the car, in my bag… it’s just so handy! This is a must-have for your basic kit!
A lovely oil that I also use a lot in my practice. It’s an oil that promotes calm and relaxation. I use it for acupressure therapy in my practice, as well as for massage and in a diffuser. I’d definitely recommend it.
I’ve tried this lavender in a 10 ml bottle and it’s much better than the other brand I usually use, because that one starts to smell unpleasant after a while, but this lavender from De Groene Linde smells much better and doesn’t leave a nasty odour afterwards. I use this lavender to create a calming atmosphere, and when I can’t sleep, I add 10 drops to a bowl of boiling water; for about 1 to 1.5 hours, the whole house smells of lavender. A bonus is that it calms me down and helps me fall asleep easily. I’ve also noticed that my heart rate is calmer and slower; that’s the effect of lavender – it calms you down and helps you relax much more deeply. 10 ml might not seem like much, but it’s actually just enough to try it out; use a maximum of 10 drops (which I find is plenty), so you can use the 10 ml bottle several times until it’s finished. The advice is always to start with 10 ml first, and once you’re sure this scent and atmosphere suit you, you can then buy a larger volume. Lavender was already my favourite, and I’d been using other brands for years, but now I’ve switched to De Groene Linde because the scent experience is better. Top tip!!! Do be careful when dispensing the drops, as there’s no economy mode, so drip carefully and count how many drops you’ve put in the container; that way, the oil will last you even longer. Right, here in the Netherlands it’s well known that prisons use orange scent to calm suspects down. It has a similar effect to lavender; I don’t actually know exactly why, but research shows that orange scent works well on suspects, compared to lavender, though both are very good! For me, the scent of orange has a bit of a cheerful quality to it, whereas lavender is much more calming. This lavender oil is my favourite when it comes to stress, restlessness, trouble sleeping and so on; it works really well.
A lovely oil that helps me relax and fall asleep.
I’m really happy with lavender oil. I love using it, both in my salon and at home in the diffuser and aroma lamp. I love the oil’s relaxing effect, as well as the lovely scent. I also use the oil for sore, stiff muscles. When I rub a drop of oil into my muscles in the evening, the pain is much better by the next morning. Two drops of oil on my pillow before going to bed ensure that I sleep deeply and peacefully all night long. The downside is that when I use the oil for several days in a row, I don’t wake up feeling rested.
I always order a bottle of at least 30 ml – which just goes to show that lavender oil is my favourite! It’s wonderfully relaxing, which is why I often use it in my aroma diffuser. We always have a bottle in the cupboard; I also use it often when I have a small cut or want to make my own skin oil. An accessible oil for many, with countless possibilities!
We use this oil extensively in the care home, both for residents with dementia and those with somatic conditions. In fact, our sleep protocol now stipulates that lavender oil should be tried first, before resorting to sleep aids or sedatives. Even the doctors are therefore convinced of the benefits of this oil. We also use it during the day for calm and relaxation, either in the diffuser in the living rooms or individually during hand massages. It is also used as a base note in our fragrance blends, to enhance the effects of the other essential oils and because lavender makes a blend smell more pleasant.
Lovely oil! I use it for massages and in the diffuser. This summer I also used it as mosquito repellent for the kids!!
It really is a wonderfully versatile oil that promotes calm and relaxation. I use it very regularly in my aroma diffuser, but also in a foot bath, massage oil or facial scrub. It really is one of my favourites.
