Chakras, the centres of our energy body; the seventh chakra

As you can see in the blog post about the first chakra As you may have read, chakras are spinning ‘wheels’ of energy within our energy body. When these chakras are in harmony, you feel at ease with yourself, you move effortlessly with the flow of life and you stand firmly on your own two feet.

Blockages in a chakra can manifest as physical symptoms, poor sleep or a general sense of unease or imbalance. But how do you know if there is a blockage?

To help you with this, we’ve written this blog series! There’s a separate blog for each chakra, in which we explain:

  • what the chakra represents,
  • how a properly functioning chakra manifests itself,
  • and what symptoms might arise when the flow of energy is disrupted.

In addition, we’ll of course be sharing practical tips that you can put into practice straight away to support your chakras and restore balance.

The seventh chakra, the crown chakra

crown chakra

✽ 𝙺𝚛𝚞𝚒𝚗 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚔𝚛𝚊 – colour: violet or white – Located on top of the head

In Sanskrit, the seventh chakra is called Sahasrara, which means “thousand-petalled” and refers to the thousand-petalled lotus, which symbolises spiritual awakening and infinite connectedness.

The crown chakra is the centre of consciousness, enlightenment and universal unity. Here, you experience a connection with something greater than yourself, a sense of wholeness and spiritual wisdom. It enables you to transcend the limitations of the ego and live from a deep sense of harmony with the universe.

Sahasrara is connected to the brain, the nervous system and the central nervous system. It influences your spiritual growth, intuition and the ability to receive insight and higher wisdom.

Balance and imbalance

⊕ A balanced crown chakra brings clarity of mind and inner peace. You feel connected to yourself, others and the universe. You experience spiritual openness and trust in the process of life. There is room for compassion, gratitude and acceptance of everything as it is.

⊖ If this chakra is out of balance, you may feel disconnected, confused or spiritually adrift. You may find it difficult to concentrate, and you may shut yourself off from deeper connections or feel that life is meaningless.

If your crown chakra is overactive, you may find yourself drifting into a dreamlike state or feeling detached, lose touch with reality, or harbour unrealistically high spiritual expectations. You may feel disconnected from your body or struggle to stay grounded in your daily life.

Tips!

Focus your attention on the crown chakra, at the top of your head. Consider gentle meditation or lying-down poses such as savasana (corpse pose), which help you connect with stillness and space. Simply sitting quietly for a moment with your eyes closed and breathing deeply also invites you to open up to your inner self.

Sit comfortably, place your hands gently on the top of your head or let them rest relaxed in your lap, and take a deep breath. Visualise a radiant violet-white sphere of light above your head, pulsing gently, and say to yourself:
“I am connected to the universe.”
“My mind is clear and open.”
“I trust in my spiritual wisdom.”
“I am at peace and in harmony with all that is.”

Repeat these words calmly and feel your mind opening up, your head clearing and a deep sense of connection.

Meditation, silence and the chanting of mantras such as AUM naturally support the crown chakra. Take the time to listen to the wisdom that speaks in the silence.

Additional tips

Crystals that support the crown chakra include:
Amethyst, Rock crystal, Selenite, Lepidolite, Moldavite
These stones help you to open your consciousness, strengthen your spiritual connection and experience inner peace and clarity.

Essential oils for the crown chakra include:
Incense, Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Cedar wood
These oils calm the mind, aid meditation and foster a deep connection with your higher self and the universe. Of course, you can also use the scent frequency Crown Chakra from our Chakra fragrance range. Use a roller and gently apply it to the crown of your head or your temples, or use a diffuser or aroma burner to fill your space with a supportive scent that helps you connect with your spiritual wisdom.

Violet and white, the colours of the crown chakra

Use the colour violet or white to activate and balance the crown chakra.

  • Wear purple or white clothing, jewellery or accessories on your head, such as a hairband or necklace.
  • Drink herbal teas such as lavender, camomile or white lotus to calm and open your mind.
  • Look up at the starry sky or close your eyes and visualise the deep purple or white colour above your head.
  • Write down spiritual insights or expressions of gratitude, or draw symbols that reflect your intuition.

Visualise a radiant sphere of violet-white light above the crown of your head. Let the light pulse gently as you connect with your higher consciousness. See how this light spreads throughout your entire body and connects you to the infinite wisdom of the universe.
