At De Groene Linde, we believe that sustainability is not a trend, but a responsibility. Every day, we strive to run our business in the most environmentally conscious way possible. We do this step by step, with respect for people and nature. We’re happy to share what we’ve achieved so far, and we’re always open to your suggestions on how we can do even better.

Environmentally responsible shipping

Our products deserve packaging that reflects their natural origins. That’s why we’ve been using paper and cardboard to dispatch orders for quite some time now. We take care to choose the right size of packaging so that as little material as possible is needed. Where possible, we reuse packaging materials, and we hope you’ll do the same.

We aim to advise you as thoroughly as possible in advance, so that returns are kept to a minimum. This not only saves on costs, but also reduces unnecessary transport journeys. For returns, we ask for a small contribution towards the postage costs; this way, we can make informed choices together. Operating as sustainably as possible within the organisation

Sustainability starts with us. That is why we have implemented various measures within our team and on our premises:

Mindful habits: Reusable water bottles, shared lunches and healthy choices.
Electric driving: Our fleet is largely electric.
Green energy: We have 40 solar panels (16 kWh) and generate enough electricity to cover our daily consumption.
Heating: Our premises are connected to the HVC Alkmaar district heating network and are fitted with a heat recovery system.
Waste separation: We sort our waste and reduce waste.
Green surroundings: A natural garden, green parking bays and cycle racks encourage sustainable choices.

Plant a Tree

“Donate one euro to help plant trees through Trees for All”

Since July 2020, with your help, we have been donating to the foundation Trees for All. Thanks to your help, we’ve already planted lots of trees! We did this by selling a wooden tree figurine made from lime wood for €4.95. All the proceeds went via Trees for All towards planting trees, and sometimes we topped this up ourselves. We have kept track of all the certificates and the status of the donations at this page.

Donation with purchase

Since June 2024, you have been able to choose to make a donation of €1 to Trees for All. We’ll double that amount and use it to buy trees. So far, together we’ve already 1,000 trees Planned!

Tree Partner

From 2025, we will officially be Tree Partner. That means that we have to 300 trees a year Donate. At the end of the year, we still double all contributions from customers. If the total exceeds 300 trees, we’ll buy extra trees on your behalf. We certainly succeeded in doing this in 2025! Thanks to our ‘green’ customers, we were able to donate no fewer than 140 extra trees!

Our ambition

By 2028, we want to achieve at least 1,900 trees have planted. Every tree counts!

Planting trees yourself...
In November 2024, Ton and Rebecca set off together to plant trees in Brabant as part of Trees for All’s big tree-planting day. It was a wonderful, if muddy, experience! Of course, it was great fun to actually plant trees in the ground together.

Why trees?

Trees for All works on sustainable forestry projects in the Netherlands and around the world. We have chosen:

• Climate-resilient forests in the Netherlands: restoration of damaged forests and planting of native species.
• Restoration of the tropical rainforest on Borneo: protection of the orangutan’s habitat and CO₂ sequestration.
