Our products are used in many different areas of the care sector, including care for people with disabilities. This is a dynamic field where essential oils can be of great value. Heidi gives us a glimpse into her residential care home, where she uses essential oils on many occasions.
‘For the past six years, I have been enjoying my work in care for people with disabilities, and I have now been working in a residential group for two years. The residential group consists of people with a range of care needs, including mild intellectual disability*, autism spectrum disorder* and Down’s syndrome. As a care professional, I am always looking for ways to improve the care and wellbeing of our clients.

These products can be used in various ways within care for people with disabilities. Below, I give a few examples of how these products can be put to practical use in a care setting such as the residential group where I work.
Many clients with an intellectual disability can benefit from sensory stimulation, which helps them to relax or unwind.
The aura spray is working for one of the residents Inner Peace directly on his state of mind. This can go from being anxious and angry to taking a deep breath and saying, “Now all the ghosts have gone away again”, in a matter of seconds. The first time, I was a bit worried it might have been a fluke, given how quickly he reacted to it, but now he asks for his “Ghost Spray” himself whenever he feels unsettled.
He then takes off his glasses and closes his eyes.
If there’s a lot of unrest in the residential group, I often use Mother Earth, I use this spray in the hall, which everyone passes through. Everyone who lives with us finds the scent pleasant (you always have to test it first, of course), and you can see that some residents literally start to “settle down”.
Promoting relaxation and reducing stress is crucial to client care. De Groene Linde’s products can be used, amongst other things, to help clients reduce tension and stress.
Providing a moment of rest can help to prevent behavioural problems and promote clients’ wellbeing.
Lovely and clean, with an energising freshness thanks to Clean Energy
During our annual cleaning and tidying day, I Clean Energy used whenever another job had been completed. The nice thing about this is that, whenever there’s a tidying-up job to be done, I use the spray and the residents recognise the scent, so they get on with the job without any resistance.
’I believe that using these products can significantly improve the care we provide for our clients, and I therefore intend to explore the possibilities further and put them into practice in our residential group!’
