A happy autumn blog from De Groene Linde

Happy Autumn: turning inwards, letting go and enjoying the moment

Autumn has arrived. Whilst for some it means cosiness, for others autumn can evoke a completely different feeling. And I’m one of those people who feel that way. Of course, I can also really enjoy the dark evenings with a candle lit, when the rain is tapping against the windows and I don’t have to go out. But the cold, the damp and the biting wind aren’t really my cup of tea.

I’m a summer person. I love getting out and about and feeling the warmth on my skin. At the first sign of a cold rain shower, I can already feel the tension building in my body. And to shake that off, I often need a bit of help! A day in the warm sauna, a hot bath and, of course, getting out and about if the weather permits.

And then I can hear you thinking: you can always go outside. But that’s not how it works in my head…

That’s why I’m writing this blog: ‘Happy Autumn’! Because some people are already happy with autumn, whilst others could do with a bit of encouragement to be happy during the autumn.

Autumn, a time for turning inwards and letting go

And by ‘turning inwards’, I mean that both literally and figuratively. We’re spending more time at home again and making it cosy indoors. But we’re also really drawing inwards more. After a warm summer, during which we were very much focused on the outside world, we’re coming back home to ourselves. And we can make that cosy too. 😉

Autumn invites you to turn your attention inwards and explore. Perhaps it’s time to reflect on what you’ve been through, to see what you want to take with you and where you still need to make adjustments. But also: what can you let go of? What no longer serves you and, just like nature, can you let go of? Just like the leaves falling from the trees.

Autumn, then, is a natural time to pause for a moment before we move into the next phase.

And it is precisely this process of turning inwards, reflecting and letting go that natural products can support so beautifully.

Warm scents for a Happy Autumn

A lovely, warm scent in your home instantly makes you feel cosy. It’s wonderful to curl up on the sofa on a dark, blustery evening with a blanket and a hot cup of tea. Switch on your diffuser with a lovely essential oil or blend and you’ll instantly feel cosy. Let the rain and wind rage outside – you’re sitting here nice and warm and cosy. 😉

With these lovely scents, you can easily bring that cosy autumn atmosphere into your home:

Zen & Silence – The name says it all. You feel a sense of calm wash over you. After a long day, this is a lovely scent to help you let all the hustle and bustle slip away and reconnect with yourself. The Tolu balsam in this blend gives the whole a warm undertone, whilst bergamot and rosemary add a touch of freshness. A lovely, multi-layered scent that you simply can’t get enough of.

Earth & Wood – A lovely, rich and warm fragrance that you can use every day. This blend really comes into its own, particularly in autumn. The scent evokes a sense of safety, comfort and deep relaxation. This blend also helps you to wind down after a long day and find peace again.

Ho leaf – This essential oil is known for its mild, warm scent, which immediately evokes a sense of calm and harmony. It has a gentle, warm and slightly floral scent that reminds many people of rosewood. The warm and pleasant scent brings tranquillity into the home and creates a relaxing atmosphere. Ho leaf is also lovely to use in a basic body cream!

Lovely scents for a Happy Autumn within

Autumn is energetically associated with letting go and returning to your true self. Especially after the hustle and bustle of summer, it can be incredibly soothing to seek out the stillness within yourself. It is precisely in that stillness that you may well find the answers you are looking for.

To support you on this inner autumn journey, you can make use of the following products:

Lord Saint Germain – Lord Saint Germain is the guardian of the Violet Flame. This special flame is used to burn away energetic burdens, tensions and negative energies. Through this purifying effect, we are freed from old blockages and can once again enjoy our lives with confidence and without hindrance.

Let go of what is no longer needed and offer it to the Violet Flame!

Altai – This scent helps calm your mind, allowing you to see clearly again and focus on what really matters. You reconnect with yourself and let go of what no longer serves you. The scent instils a sense of inner peace and tranquillity, creating space once more to see things clearly.

This fragrance isn’t just my favourite. Lots of my colleagues have it on their shelves at home too. Some even have it on their desks. 😉

Good Mood, Good Vibes – For me, this really is such a lovely scent for the dark winter months. When the days get shorter and there’s less light outside, I sometimes find it quite a challenge to keep feeling my own inner light. That’s when I like to use Good Mood Good Vibes. This fresh, sweet-smelling blend feels to me like the sunshine in a bottle. The scent helps me to refocus my attention inwards and consciously choose a lighter, happier energy. To step out of my head for a moment, check in with how I’m feeling, and make space for what does me good.

For me, this is a lovely fragrance to use at times when I could do with a bit of extra lightness. A little moment of fragrance just for myself, especially on those dark days when I sometimes miss the sunshine outside so much.

Happy Autumn with natural support

As soon as autumn sets in and the letter ‘R’ reappears in the month’s name, it’s time once again to look after yourself with lovely natural products for those bleak autumn days. In families with children in particular, noses are soon running again and seal-like coughs can regularly be heard echoing through the house. You simply can’t get enough of the tissues at times like these!

Look after yourself and your family with natural products and make this a Happy Autumn too:

Cough & Cold – We’ve thought of the little ones too. This lovely blend is suitable for babies from 6 months old. As well as the essential oil, a massage oil, bath oil and roll-on featuring this blend are also available. This means you can enjoy this lovely scent in a variety of ways, tailored to the very youngest children.

Hoest the Little Seal and Epic Long balm – These two balms are absolutely brilliant! Epic Long is for adults and Zeehondje Hoest is for children aged 2 and over. You can apply the balm several times a day to the chest area and the soles of the feet. A lovely natural remedy for young and old alike.

Cough & Sniffs – This wonderful fragrance is a real autumn favourite of mine! This blend combines carefully selected essential oils with fresh and warm notes. It’s lovely to use whenever you fancy creating a pleasant, fresh atmosphere in your home. For me, this is definitely a must-have bottle for those bleak autumn days.

I hope this lovely natural remedy helps you get through autumn feeling absolutely brilliant! I’ve certainly cleaned my diffuser again and got it ready for plenty of use over the coming weeks. 😉
