Bulgarian lavender is one of the highest-quality and most popular lavender oils in the world. This oil is extracted from Lavandula angustifolia, also known as true lavender, which grows in the vast, sun-drenched fields of Bulgaria.
Alongside France, Bulgaria is renowned as one of the finest producers of lavender oil, partly thanks to its favourable climate, clean air and fertile soil. This results in lavender oil of exceptional quality with a gentle, floral and slightly herbaceous scent.
The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh flowering tops. The oil from Bulgaria generally has a higher ester content, particularly linalyl acetate, which gives this lavender its characteristic relaxing and calming effect.
''I absolutely love this lavender, which is why it’s been incorporated into so many different fragrance blends! It has the same effects as lavender oil.' – Marianne –

A lovely oil with a gentle fragrance; we always keep it in stock. It’s easy to dispense the right amount. We’re always delighted with the oils from De Groene Linde.
Lovely scent! I only need a few drops in my diffuser as it’s quite strong.
It’s quite a strong scent… I do miss the real scent of lavender a bit, but it does the job. It helps me relax, which means I sleep better. I forgot to switch it on yesterday and found it harder to fall asleep.
I wouldn’t use this Bulgarian lavender before bed – the thing is, it can be quite energising! I can’t fall asleep with it; I find it gives me a slightly focused feeling, yet at the same time a sense of calm. But it’s not for falling asleep – the energy level is a bit too high and it’s different from 'real lavender', even though it’s a bit more expensive. But I like it because it has a lovely sweet scent and the energy boost during the day is nice; yes, it really is completely different from original lavender. I’ll keep using this; I do like it, because it has a lovely sweet, pleasant scent that isn’t too heavy. But be aware that the energy boost can make you feel a bit focused – I’d use it mainly in the mornings and afternoons, and definitely not in the evenings, but that’s just my experience. It’s a cool product from Bulgaria, and I’m learning yet again that lavender from different regions can offer a really varied scent experience and affect the price. There really is a difference there. I’m also going to try Mont Blanc. I think this is a lovely product, and recently someone else said that this fragrance smells very pleasantly sweet and lovely – they said, 'That’s a really good scent!' My next order will be Mont Blanc, to see what the difference is. This Bulgarian product will always have a place on my shelf – it’s a great product! Thank you, De Groene Linde, for this product!
It has a strong scent, but it’s fresh and relaxing. A few drops of Bulgarian lavender, mixed with almond oil and 1 to 2 drops of ‘Love’ (Angel Collection), makes a lovely massage oil that, once applied, gives you a warm and uplifting hug. It makes me absolutely happy!
