Gabbro is a deep black, coarse-grained igneous rock composed of feldspar and pyroxene. Scientists first discovered it in Tuscany, Italy, and named it after the Italian village of Gabbro. The mystical variety is called Mystic Merlinite, named after the wizard Merlin because of its magical and intuitive power. Gabbro is mainly found in Madagascar.

Merlinite is a black-and-white rock, often dendritic opal or agate with black inclusions. The name also refers to Merlin and symbolises magic and mysticism. Merlinite is found in Madagascar, New Mexico and parts of the United States.
