The name ‘Granaat’ comes from the Latin pomegranate, which means “with seeds”, a reference to its deep red colour and grainy texture, reminiscent of pomegranate seeds (Punica granatum). Symbolically, this refers to fertility, renewal and regeneration. Garnet is found all over the world.
