Garnet set in a mother stone, 156 grams

The name ‘Granaat’ comes from the Latin pomegranate, which means “with seeds” – a reference to its deep red colour and grainy texture, reminiscent of the seeds of a pomegranate (Punica granatum). Symbolically, this refers to fertility, renewal and regeneration. Garnet is found all over the world.

Garnet is like an energetic turbo-boost: it rouses you from passivity, revs up your inner engine and sets you in motion. Like a powerful flint, it gives you courage, determination and the strength to let go of old, limiting patterns.

It’s often called the "pepper stone" – and for good reason! Garnet is there for those moments when you need a kick up the backside. It motivates you to make choices, take the plunge and stand up for yourself. If you find yourself avoiding things or feeling uncertain, Garnet helps you to trust your intuition again and choose a direction.

Garnet is also highly effective on an energetic level: it activates the root chakra, which helps you to ground yourself and feel secure, and works on the sacral and solar plexus chakras, fostering a zest for life, passion and strength.

The Garnet helps you come to terms with past hurts and break out of destructive patterns.

The mother stone, also known as the mother matrix or matrix stone, forms the base from which a crystal grows. This stone not only plays a geological role, but also carries deep spiritual significance and energetic power.

The host rock is the original rock in which a crystal forms. You can think of it as the breeding ground or origin of the crystal. During the growth process, the crystal absorbs minerals and energy from this stone. This is clearly visible in combinations such as apophyllite on stilbite or turquoise in a host matrix. Here, the crystal literally appears to be born from the stone.

The mother stone symbolises grounding, stability and a connection to one’s origins. It represents the foundation upon which growth and spiritual development arise.

Whilst a crystal often works with subtle energies, healing and consciousness, the mother stone, on the other hand, brings stability and calm. It adds a grounding energy to the whole. As a result, the crystal’s energy feels more grounded and less fleeting. The mother stone helps to anchor everything in the here and now.

A crystal that is still connected to its mother stone shows where true growth begins. Growth stems from a strong foundation. Spiritual development gains strength when you remain firmly grounded. The mother stone reminds you of your origins and invites you to slow down. It helps you realise how important patience and balance are between the earthly and the spiritual.
