The name Vesuvianite refers to the volcano Mount Vesuvius in Italy. The mineral was first discovered at the foot of this volcano in the 18th century. That is why the stone was given the name Vesuvianite.
This crystal is also known as Idocrase. This name derives from the Greek words Eidos (form) and Krasis (mixture). The name refers to the fact that the mineral has properties similar to those of several other minerals.
Nowadays, vesuvianite is found in several places around the world. Major deposits include those in Madagascar, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. Although the stone is found in various countries, vesuvianite remains relatively rare. Moreover, crystal enthusiasts appreciate this stone not only for its appearance; its powerful and supportive energy also makes vesuvianite particularly popular in the world of gemstones and minerals.
