Tiger's Eye tumbled stone

Chakra: root and solar plexus chakras
Star sign: Leo and Gemini

Tiger’s eye is a warm, protective stone that immediately catches the eye with its golden-brown glow and lustre. The light seems to shift across the stone, an effect known as 'chatoyance'. This is reminiscent of a tiger’s eye, from which the stone takes its name. In the past, people often wore Tiger’s Eye as a talisman for protection and strength. The stone is found mainly in South Africa, but also in India, Australia and the United States.

General operation

Tiger’s eye is associated with the solar plexus chakra. This energy centre is all about personal strength, self-esteem and setting boundaries. The stone protects your solar plexus, so you’re less likely to lose energy to others. At the same time, it helps you to develop self-confidence and to have the courage to share your ideas. It teaches you to stand your ground, not by forcing the issue, but by being calm and steadfast.

Tiger’s Eye also works right down to the root chakra, helping you to ground yourself firmly. This connection with the earth provides warmth and a sense of security, and reduces feelings of fear or insecurity. For children, Tiger’s Eye offers gentle yet powerful support. Placing a stone by the bed can help combat nightmares or overstimulation and promotes peace and confidence whilst sleeping.

Tiger’s Eye also offers protection for adults. If you often feel drained or tired from giving away too much energy, the stone helps you to close off your solar plexus. This makes you less susceptible to external influences and helps you to conserve your own energy more effectively.

Tiger’s eye symbolises strength, protection and confidence. It gives you the courage to believe in yourself and the resilience to uphold that confidence. Whether you’re seeking peace of mind, need protection or want to feel more self-assured, tiger’s eye guides you in a warm and down-to-earth way.
