Tingshas are regularly used in meditation rituals and with mantras. Tingshas originate from Tibet. They have been used for centuries by Tibetan Buddhists to prepare for meditation. They awaken the mind and evoke a sense of calm in both body and mind through the vibrations of the tingsha sounds. The clear, pure, cleansing sound can be used to help the mind focus both before and after meditation.
These small hand cymbals are held together by a leather strap and are slightly bowl-shaped. They produce exceptionally high-pitched sounds and vibrations.
Originally, this small instrument was used during sound meditation: a return to the ‘here and now’.
There are many techniques for cleansing a space. The tingsha is one of them. When the two tingsha bowls strike each other, they produce a pure, cleansing sound that can dispel low-vibration energy, or negative energy.
