Turquoise is mainly found in countries such as Iran, Tibet, the US, China and Mexico. The colour ranges from sky blue to blue-green, often with brown or black veins. Every stone is unique, just like you.
The name ‘Turquoise’ comes from the French word "turquoise", which means "Turkish". Although the stone itself does not originally come from Turkey, it was brought to Europe via Turkey from mines in Iran (ancient Persia). European traders therefore called the stone “Turkish stone”, and that is how the name we still use today came about.
Throughout the centuries, turquoise has held special significance in various cultures. For example, the ancient Egyptians used it in jewellery and amulets, whilst Native American tribes regarded the stone as sacred, a bridge between heaven and earth, bringing protection and wisdom.
General operation
Turquoise is a beautiful blue-green gemstone that has been regarded as a powerful protective stone for centuries. Traditionally, turquoise was worn by travellers, warriors and shamans to ward off misfortune, illness and negative influences. This stone not only offers protection, but also brings good luck, prosperity and balance.
Turquoise therefore has a protective effect and helps to keep negative external energy at bay. This includes influences from other people, but also electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones, computers and other devices. It is therefore a lovely stone to carry with you, especially when travelling or in busy, chaotic environments.
