Self-care is how you reclaim your power

It’s something you hear and read about everywhere: ‘self-care moments’. But how difficult is it to look after yourself properly when you’ve got a family at home waiting for you to look after them, your job takes up a lot of your energy, and there are plenty of friends around you whom you’d also like to spend some time with?.

But isn’t it lovely when you take those 10 minutes just for yourself – whether it’s a warm bath, a lovely walk on the beach, or doing a few yoga exercises or some meditation? It’s only a short while, but it really does help you recharge.

A moment to yourself – it’s so important!

You’re a very busy person and sometimes you push yourself to the limit. You find that you can’t cope with as much and get irritated more easily. Ultimately, you feel tired even though you’re pulling long nights. But when you’re stressed, your sleep is restless and less deep. As a result, you don’t wake up feeling fully rested.

By setting aside a few minutes each day for some self-care, you’ll find that you start to feel better about yourself. You’ll be able to cope with a bit more, and you’ll feel relaxed and at ease all day long.

Turn your self-care moment into a ritual

Are you a fan of yoga and meditation? If so, make sure you have a cosy spot in your home or garden where you can leave your bits and bobs out. You might want to set an alarm at the start to remind yourself to take that moment, otherwise you might forget. It really needs to ‘sink in’ so that it eventually becomes a habit.

Surround yourself with lovely things

Stones, sprays, oils, incense, soft cushions… All lovely things to help you relax more deeply. Surround yourself with rock crystal points whilst meditating to fully recharge your batteries. Light some incense and take a few deep breaths.

Self-care tips using De Groene Linde products

Relaxation in the bath

Why not treat yourself to a lovely bath with a beautifully scented bath oil. Light some candles, put on some lovely music (a tip for Spotify: Miracle Frequency Music 😊) and have a cup of tea. Lie down and relax!

These bath oils come in a range of themes, so there’s always something to suit your taste. Don’t have a bath? No worries! You can also use this lovely bath oil to give yourself a foot bath.

Sprays and oils

There are so many sprays and oils in the range that you can put to good use to make that moment just for yourself truly special. I have a few favourite products that I’d love to tell you a bit more about.

This lovely scent gives me such a sense of inner peace. It calms my thoughts and I can meditate beautifully. If I’m struggling to push my intrusive thoughts away, I’ll spray it around me again and sit there a little longer 😉.

Crystals

I absolutely love crystals!! They look so beautiful and really catch the eye in the home. But did you know that crystals can also influence your wellbeing? I often use rock crystal points myself. I lie down comfortably on a mat on the floor with some music playing. Yes, Miracle Frequency Music again 😉. I arrange the points around me, first with the points facing outwards, to rid myself of any negative energy. Then I turn the points inwards to recharge with the crystals‘ positive energy. I highly recommend it!!

This is a real must-have in my bag, so I end up taking it everywhere with me. I’ve even given a few away to friends… The roller is so handy to use! Whenever I’m out and about and I feel my mind getting a bit cluttered, I reach for the Peace of Mind I use the roller. But it’s also really lovely to use this roller before going to bed or during a moment to myself. I find that it helps clear my mind, which means I slow down in my daily activities, am more present in the moment and therefore do everything more mindfully. It’s brilliant!!

I’ve got so many more favourite self-care products… Too many to mention! That’s why we’ve been adding all the products to the site Theme: Self-care added. It might be a good idea to have a look for yourself at all the products in this theme. I’m sure there’s something there for you too!

Even more self-care tips

Start the day by writing Buy yourself a lovely little book and start the day by writing down three things you’re grateful for. This will set your day off on a positive note, and over time you’ll end up with a book full of gratitude. You could also write down three things before you go to sleep that made you happy that day. These can be little things, such as the sun peeking through your curtains, letting you know it was going to be another lovely day, or a beautiful flower in a field full of flowers, and so on. It’s precisely by noticing and appreciating the little things that your happiness hormones kick into action! Do you find it difficult to get started on your own? The 6-minute diary is a lovely and handy book to get started with.

Eat healthily and drink plenty of water When you start cutting out sugar, you’ll soon notice a difference. You’ll feel less tired, and people with rheumatic conditions may actually experience less pain as a result (trust me, I’ve found it really helps me a lot!). Make sure you drink enough water; start the day with two glasses of water. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. It’s advice everyone knows, but it’s still worth mentioning 😉.

Learn to say ‘no’ Saying ‘No’ to someone else is a ‘YES’ for yourself! But it’s so hard to let other people down, isn’t it? But what if you say ‘Yes’ to something you don’t feel like doing? Who are you letting down then? That’s right, yourself! And that’s exactly what we don’t want!!! And saying ‘No’ doesn’t always need an explanation. Just a simple ‘No’ is fine too!

Seek out nature and tranquillity When you go for a walk through the woods or along the beach, you can really unwind. I find the beach particularly rejuvenating. I love walking barefoot across the sand and through the water. The salt water always makes me feel as though the negative energy is flowing out of my feet, and the fresh air clearing my head helps me think clearly again. With a bit of luck, the sunshine helps me recharge 😊.

Try doing your everyday tasks with real awareness And I’m really talking about little things like brushing your teeth or making a sandwich. You often do these things whilst your mind is on the future – worrying about tomorrow and fretting about everything that needs to be done that day. Try to do everything you do mindfully. That way, you’ll be living in the moment!

Look after yourself! That way, you’ll be able to be there for others with all your (positive) energy 😉!
