For me, New Year’s Eve is always a day full of rituals. I prepare certain dishes because they remind me of the ones I used to make with my father. I’ve also created my own rituals with my family, such as drawing up a bucket list for the coming year. Whilst cooking, I think about what I want to leave behind in the old year, so that I can start the new year with a fresh outlook, with the final tracks from the Top 2000 playing in the background.
A new year always feels like a fresh start. It’s as if you’re allowed to start writing again in a blank notebook. To really start afresh, in the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve I follow rituals that help me let go of all the emotions and baggage from the old year. New Year’s Eve has a strong spiritual significance for me.
Letting go of emotions, feelings and energy may seem difficult, but it is certainly possible. Scent frequencies, meditations and rituals help to reduce negative energy and bring about a greater sense of balance.
A monthly bath with Ritual Cleansing Bath Oil is an excellent idea. Don’t have a bath? Then you can also have a foot bath using the same products. Turn it into a ritual by making a cup of tea, a Palo Santo-light a match, light some candles and calm music to set up.
Start by cleaning the bathroom or the room where you’ll be having your foot bath. Walk around the room with the Palo Santo stick to cleanse your own energy field as well. Then fill the basin with warm water, light some candles and sit down for a moment with your eyes closed. Set an intention: what do you want to let go of, what no longer serves you and what do you want to give back to others?
Put three scoops into a small bowl Himalayan salt and a generous splash of Ritual Cleansing Bath Oil. Add it to the warm water, step into the bath and relax. For a foot bath, you can use half the amount of each product. You may wish to add crystals, such as Rock crystal, amethyst or rose quartz, for an extra energy boost.
As well as taking a bath, you can cleanse your space and your energy body with Palo Santo or dried sage. Choose whatever feels right for you and decide on your intention. New Year’s Eve is a good time to carry out an energetic cleansing of your home, so that all the emotions and feelings from the past period are cleared from your home.

A scent frequency that can help with letting go is Relieve from the Soul Recharge range. This frequency helps you to settle into your inner centre and find inner stillness. For me, this means that the noise in my head disappears and a sense of space opens up in my upper body. It can be particularly effective at relieving tension in the neck and shoulders.
Rock crystal is a well-known crystal that is often used for energetic cleansing and healing. Place a beautiful piece in a prominent spot in your home to keep the energy in balance. A small rock crystal in your pocket or in your hands whilst meditating can help you let go of energetic baggage.
A tip for the bedroom is to lay out a grid of Rock crystal points around your bed. That way, you’ll be surrounded by the energy of the cleansing stone all night long. Don’t forget to cleanse and recharge the crystal regularly.

A tradition I’ve been doing with my family for years is drawing up a bucket list for the new year. If the four of us are together on New Year’s Eve, we carry out the tradition then; otherwise, we postpone it until the following day.
I’m not the sort of person who only makes New Year’s resolutions at the start of the year, but I do enjoy thinking about what I want to achieve or do in the coming year. This could be a new step in your career, a city you’d like to visit, or a spiritual goal such as learning to let go more easily and creating greater balance. Yoga and meditation can help with this.
Give everyone a sheet of paper or a card and put some coloured pencils and pens on the table. Personalise the card with your favourite colours and little drawings. It doesn’t have to be complicated: two or three points are enough to tick off over the coming year. Hang the lists in a visible place so that you’re constantly reminded of your wishes.
These rituals will help you bring the old year to a close, let go of any baggage, and start the new year feeling refreshed and balanced. Make it a personal experience and enjoy the process.
I wish you a wonderful end to the year and a fantastic New Year, in which all your dreams and wishes may come true.
