Those six weeks’ holiday are brilliant, but once the holidays are over, it really is time to go back to school… Whether you’re starting school for the first time, moving to a new school, or returning to school after the summer holidays, it’s still an exciting time for most children: Back 2 School.
Whilst some people are looking forward to seeing their friends again or are excited about a fresh start, others may be feeling more nervous and/or uncertain. Will I end up in a nice class? What will my new teacher be like? How will I cope with distractions at school?
Particularly when combined with high sensitivity, the questions above may ring true. Furthermore, the transition from a relaxed holiday routine back to the school routine can be quite a big adjustment for a sensitive child, which may cause some stress.
In this blog, I’ll give you some tips on how to support your children as the holidays draw to a close, so they can start the new school year feeling refreshed and full of energy.
It’s common to feel anxious at the start of a new school year, especially for highly sensitive children (HSPs). Many children experience a knot in their stomach and trouble sleeping as early as a week beforehand. Adults working in education may also recognise this feeling. Fortunately, there are various tools available to help manage this anxiety, such as the products from De Groene Linde. There are a range of products designed to give children a helping hand as they adjust to the school routine. At the end of this blog, in addition to these products, we’ll also share some personal tips to help once the school year has properly begun.
Cleansing, grounding and protection form the basis for a good energetic balance. This can be practised as a simple ritual throughout the day. Before a child (or adult) leaves the house, an energetically protective scent frequency can help to keep their energy field clear. This prevents it from becoming “cluttered” and ensures that no energy is lost due to the many impressions encountered at school. You can read more about this topic in our in-depth blog post here.
For children aged four and over, there is the scent range “Little hedgehog, protect me“. Children aged eight and over can also Protection and HSP Protection are available. More information about the differences can be found on the product pages, making it easy to choose the one that suits you best.
When you get home, it’s nice to start by doing some energy cleansing. This helps you let go of the energy you’ve picked up during the day and regain a sense of calm and balance. As part of the ‘Back to School’ theme, you might consider, for example, “Little whale, clean me up” (from the age of four) and HSP Cleansing (aged eight and over).
Finally, there is the aspect of grounding. Children who lack a sense of grounding may become restless or find that their minds are racing. A grounding scent helps them to reconnect with their bodies and stabilise their energy. This can be used throughout the day. For children aged 4 and over, there is “Little elephant, put me down“, and for older children and adults there is Grounding from the HSP range.
A new school year can trigger feelings of uncertainty and anxiety in some children. This may manifest itself in worrying thoughts or restless sleep. In such cases, the scent frequency Carefree to provide support to help you feel more at peace.
When faced with uncertainty about change, appearance or the fear of not being good enough or likeable enough, the Self-confidence Oil, aura spray or roll-on can help. The roll-on is really handy to use and easy to carry in your school bag.

For many children, getting back into the school routine after a relaxing holiday can be a challenge. Going to bed on time, in particular, can be difficult at the end of the holidays. Furthermore, tension can become trapped in the body, leading to restlessness, just when a good night’s sleep is essential for a fresh start to the new school year.
To support children in this, two scent frequencies have been selected as part of the ‘Back to School’ theme: Sleep, Little Sheep (from the age of two) and Bedtime Smudge (from the age of eight). These products can help you relax and support a peaceful sleep routine.

The Peace of mind The roller is a popular favourite. This fragrance is also available as an oil and an aura spray. The roller can be easily applied to the wrists or temples to help you feel more calm and relaxed. For young children aged two and over, there is Calm Frog, which actually has the same effect but contains ingredients that are safe to use on young children. A scent that is an essential part of this theme is HSP Pull In. This versatile fragrance supports energetic protection and helps you reconnect with yourself.
As well as the excitement that a new school year brings, it can also be a challenge to regain motivation and concentration. This is often not just an issue after the summer holidays, but can be a recurring theme throughout the year.
Various scent frequencies are available to help with studying, working or other situations where concentration is required. These can, for example, be used in a spray for the work or study area when you’re feeling tired or distracted. It is also possible to use the oil version in a diffuser for a long-lasting effect in the room.
I hope I’ve been able to inspire you and that you’ll be able to get back to work with renewed enthusiasm after the holidays. And that you’ll also be able to support your school-age children in a positive way during those first, oh-so-exciting weeks of term!
