Every third Monday in January is Blue Monday, the day known as “the most depressing day of the year”. This day was coined by the British psychologist Cliff Arnall in 2005. Although there is no scientific evidence to support it, many people experience a touch of gloom or the winter blues around this time of year. On Blue Monday, your mood is said to hit rock bottom.
There are several possible reasons for this feeling: the grey January weather, the holidays still seem a long way off, and many people have already given up on their New Year’s resolutions. The days are dark, and Monday is often the first day of a busy working week. These are all factors that contribute to a gloomy mood and the winter blues.
But… Cliff Arnall may well have coined the term ‘Blue Monday’, but here at De Groene Linde we have products in our range that help you boost your mood and energy levels naturally 😉.
As you may know, an essential oil has a specific vibration. We love to make use of this vibration! Negative thoughts can drain your energy; this has been scientifically proven. When you’re fed up with the weather, the sun is rarely out and you’re feeling down, it can lead to a proper case of the winter blues.
By harnessing the energy of natural products such as fresh vegetables, the fresh air, music with positive frequencies, the energy of stones and essential oils, you can restore your vibration and boost your energy levels. This is a natural way to get through Blue Monday and lift your spirits.

We have a number of wonderful products in our range that help boost your energy and lift your mood. The frequencies give you an instant feeling of happiness! Below is a list of my personal favourites for the darker days 😉.
Actually, the name says it all! Get back in the mood and boost your energy with these amazing vibes 😊. You can start using this lovely room spray from day one. It’s brilliant for you when you’ve just given birth, and it’s completely safe for your little one. Use the room spray in the room (when your little one isn’t there) to experience the energy of this sunny fragrance. A real ray of sunshine in your home!
This comforting fragrance helps your child feel loved and cared for. The frequency has an uplifting effect, making it perfect for use on gloomy days. What’s more, this lovely oil is suitable for use in the home with children from 6 months old.
Always read the information on dosage and use for the products listed above carefully before using the fragrances. This information is provided on the website alongside each product.
Of course, you can also have a go at creating your own blends using single oils. Think, for example, of the lovely citrus scents such as bergamot and orange, but also to aniseed, ylang-ylang, incense, juniper berry, cypress and peppermint.
It’s great fun to create your own blend and use it. You can keep mixing until you’ve found your favourite scent. And just enjoying all these lovely scents like this instantly lifts your mood!

Personally, I really struggle with the dark days. I find that the rain, wind and cold don’t exactly cheer me up. And when I see nothing but dreary, grey skies day after day, I sometimes just feel like I’ve had enough of this time of year. Below, I’ve put together some tips to help you get through these months. Maybe you’ll find them useful! They certainly help me!
🔅 Try to embrace the darkness. There’s no point in fighting it; you can’t change it. You’ll only get drawn in deeper. When you accept that this is how it is and take your feelings seriously, it really does make a world of difference.
🔅 Make sure there’s plenty of fresh air. Why not go for a stroll and head outside? Even if you can’t see the sun, it’s still shining! And after enjoying a refreshing breeze on a chilly beach, you can treat yourself to a cup of hot tea at a beach bar. We’ve got a lovely dog who loves to go for walks with me. Don’t you have a dog? Perhaps you could help someone out by walking their dog every now and then. That way, you’ll have a cheerful walking companion by your side 😉.
🔅 Make sure you eat plenty of fresh vegetables! Tinned vegetables don’t really serve any purpose. Fresh vegetables help to raise your vibration a little.
🔅 Every day, write down three things you’re grateful for. Do take a moment here to really reflect on this. A handy diary to help ensure you actually do this is the 6-minute diary. Because you start every morning by writing down what you’re grateful for in this diary, the day gets off to a good start. My diary is on my bedside table, so it’s the first thing I do when I wake up.
🔅 Look after yourself. Make sure you get enough rest, go to bed a bit earlier and take a few moments each day to relax. Personally, I love lying on a spike mat for ten minutes every evening. I then put on the playlist on Spotify Miracle Frequency Music and charge it fully. I don’t manage to do this every day either, but I’ve resolved to stick to this daily ritual this year 😉.
🔅 Start the day with a cold shower. OK, I get that you think this is really not much fun to do every morning. It’s already cold and dark, and then you’re going to put yourself through this as well! But believe me, it’s actually really nice. It’s actually very good for your mental health. And you’ve already had your moment of stress, so: bring on the day! If you do this every day, you’ll eventually come to appreciate it. Just build it up gradually; you really don’t need to jump straight into an ice bath on day one. Start with twenty seconds, keep breathing calmly and relax your muscles. Build it up slowly to two or three minutes. There are plenty of videos online showing exercises you can do before you step into the shower. And it really does work!
🔅 Show some love! Make sure you surround yourself with people you love. Create a cosy atmosphere at home with candles; there are some lovely ones tea light holders from gemstones that also give off positive vibes! And tell the people around you more often that you appreciate and care about them. When you give love, it flows!
Do you have any good tips you’d like to share with others? If so, please let us know! I wish you plenty of light during these dark days 😉.
